National League For Woman`s Service

During World War 1 women had a role to take over what the men would do. The National League For Woman`s Service is a powerful group of women who help changed the societies mind about females. They called themselves (NLWS). Most of them trained to work in hospitals and on the fields to help the men win the war. Although many weren’t able to fight side by side but they were able to help. For example the nurses on the camps would nurse the wounded soldier until the soldier is ready to fight again. Other women would be sent for kitchen work.

The women in the kitchens would cook and clean for the men until they were told otherwise. The women didn’t only cook, clean and nurse the men but also sometimes fill in their places. The women who were trained had done that job. When they saw that they were low on men they would send in some women to fight until the sick men were cured. Anna McFadden was an important woman at the time too. She enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve as a nurse in June 1917 at Garfield Memorial Hospital in Winchester. The National League of Women`s service continued after the war too.

This picture represents that women are people to. It says that this is there war too and that they can help too. It`s not only up to the man to fight in the war.

World War I

World War I started in central Europe on July 1914.  There were four causes to the war. They were militarism, alliances, imperialism, and nationalism. Militarism was when the army and military forces were given a high profile by the government. An alliance is an agreement made between two or more countries to give each other help if it`s needed. Imperialism is when a country takes over new lands or territories and makes them subjects to their ruler. Nationalism means being a strong supporter of the rights and interests of one's country. The event that sparked the war was the Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife.
The two main reasons that he United States entered World War I was the sinking of Lusitania. On May 7, 1915 Germans sunk a U.S. cruise ship that had 159 Americans on it the rest were Europeans. There were 1, 959 people aboard the ship that day. The Lusitania was sunk on the coast of Southern Ireland. The second reason why the United States entered World War I was because of the Zimmerman note. In that note Germany had went overboard about the war. They had promised Mexico they would help get back the states of Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona the land they lost.
The peace settlement of World War I was Treaty of Versailles. President Wilson fourteen points are to open covenants of peace, freedom of the seas, to have and affording approval grantees policy, an independent Polish state. The Treaty of Versailles was one of the peace treaties that ended World War I. It ended war between Germany and the Allied States the treaty was signed June 28, 1919. The U.S. rejected the fact of being about of the alliances in Europe so they returned to isolation. I think that the peace settlement wasn’t a long lasting use because the League of Nations.

Two Important Laws That Changed U.S.History

                                                           Stamp Act & Sugar Act

The Sugar Act was when King George had decided to tax the colonists on the sugar. It was passed by the British Parliament. After the French & Indian War the British was in debt to they decided to take it upon the colonists by taxing them on sugar. It was as well known as the Molasses Act. The Sugar Act addressed that King George the third had power over the colonists. The intent of the law was that it was the colonies were being taxed on the things they used often. The problem was dealt with when most of the colonists used taxation without representation. Other shopkeepers agreed not to import British goods.

The Stamp Act is when the British taxed colonists on stamps. The Stamp Act was put into action during the French & Indian War. The social problem was that the British were being unfair to the colonists by taxing them on things they use in everyday life. The Stamp Act was passed on March 22, 1765 it required tax on every single piece of paper used to be mailed. The problem later on resolved over the fact that Americans started to boycott. They boycotted stamps and the British felt pressured when some of the workers were hurt during the boycott.

The Stamp Act and the Sugar Act both have something to do with taxes. It also deals with the French & Indian War and the British. It also deals with the colonists and the 1760`s-1780`s.

A Splendid Little War

Newspaper                                    Television

Newspapers and television can start a war . All because now a days people believe what the Internet and television says. Just like in third world countries they can communicate with each other over the Internet as well as start a war using it. They can also report on what they see and say how they feel. People can dislike they way they are being treated like in Egpyt. They just had a revolution over the fact that they didn`t like their ruler so they posted it on the world wide web. Then they protest and their ruler dropped out of his office.

                                                             Spanish-American War
If I had lived in Europe and found out that the United States had defeated Spain and became a great world power state I would be furious. I will be furious because Spain is apart of Europe and it`s like my hometown.  I will try to help Spain restore themself after the defeat and also to get on the Americans good side because Spain was weak. I wouldn`t be convinced that they had become powerful state because the U.S. picked on Spain. They knew that Spain were weak so they fought them that`s why they called it a Splendid Little War. It wasn`t a challenge for the U.S. at all it was very easy for them.

What Happened In Japan on March 11, 2011

Japan`s EarhQuake & Tsunami

                                                       Japan`s Earthquake & Tsunami
Japan recently had a earthquake and a tsunami. They are having a hard time trying to recover. Their food supplies are low, their homes are destroyed and Japan`s a mess. It happened on March 11, 2011. A 9.0 earthquake had hit Japan and that it bend the tip of Tokyo Towers. Japan`s earthquake is one of the most worst earthquake & tsunami that has hit all over the world. 126 million people has got hurt during the event that happened.
It was 1,093 feet tall. the earthquake `s shock wave was 200 the it took the statue down when it hit. After all of that a radio wave might hit. The  way Japanese people are dealing with the disaster is finding all the people who survived. Then they are putting them in shelters. They are also looking for clean water and good food as well as gas for homes and cars. The United States are also is going to help them as well.   When the quake warnings came Japan was worried because they tought is wasnt going to be that bad but it was.
The quake caused a nuclear plant to start and Japan could be completely be destoryed. Crew members is trying to keep the nuclear plant under control and they are getting some success but it not over. they are trying to unplug the wires so it won`t explode. the temperture is being kept down so nothing bad is going to happen. But there is no reason to say it will work or nything like that. The International Atomic Energy Agency was thinking they should but water in the pumps but it will make it worst.

                                                                 Booker T. Washington
Booker T. Washington was born on April 5, 1856 and then died on November 14, 1915.He is best known as the founder of the Tuskegee Institute. He was born as a slave and had a early education. He was the first teacher and  principal at Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama. It is a school which he created for black people to learn and change their lives around.
He wrote a book called Up From Slavery in 1901. He got comments from Theodore Roosevelt and William Taft. His nickname is "The Great Accommodated". W.E.B. DuBois rejected Washington`s idea about only helping black people instead of whites and other people. Washington belived that black people can make more out of themselves if the just learn that was the main reason why he created the Institute. Also that African Americans should be working in farms anymore.
